Garrett Advancing Motion

Garrett was founded in 1936 by John Clifford Garrett as an aircraft supply company that produced aluminum intercoolers. By the 1950s, the company was placed on the NYSE. With substantial knowledge in aerospace technology, Garrett was poised to expand.

In 1954, their turbocharger business started when they placed their T15 turbo in a Caterpillar D9 crawler engine. The turbo business took off in 1967 when the TO4 was placed in a John Deere tractor. Since, they have continued to set the standard in delivering innovative products to their customers. With applications ranging from passenger cars to heavy duty trucks to marine applications, there are more than 100 million vehicles with a Garrett turbocharger, making them one of the world’s more iconic brands.

Dating back to the 1990s, they developed an innovative technology known as variable nozzle turbine (VNT). The purpose of the VNT was to adjust the flow of exhaust gas in response to engine requirements. This revolutionary new technology became mainstream in the turbo industry.

Garrett is also a major player in racing and provides performance turbos and components, including valves and intercoolers. In 1968, their turbo boosted the winning vehicle in the Indy 500. From 2017-2020, they have helped Porsche and Toyota teams win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans races. They remain committed to providing the highest performing and safest turbos.

As the leader in innovation, Garrett is ready for the future of reduced emissions and better fuel economy as they expect more gas powertrains to be turbocharged as well as hybrid and electric vehicles. In 2008, they boosted the first ever hybrid vehicle in the BMW X-6 ActiveHybrid. In 2021, Garrett Advancing Motion won an award for first electric turbo.

In the aftermarket, Garrett provides more than 8,000 unique turbochargers for engines with horsepower ranging from 60HP to 4,000HP. As a master distributor for Garrett Advancing Motion, D&W can provide the best quality and most advanced aftermarket products to our customers.
